About me
Hi my name is Xavier. I'm currently studying to become a mining technician with a specialty in operations. Already halfway through my degree at the time of writing this, I moved from my hometown (Gaspé) to Thetford mines a year and a half ago for CÉGEP. Since it is kind of a niche program, only three cities in the province of Quebec offers it: Val-d'or, Sept-iles and as mentioned, Thetford mines. My decision wasn't difficult and I settled for the latter due to its proximity with Quebec city. Mining technology is divided into three branches: Mineralogy, exploitation (operations) and geology. If we dumb it down, geology is about finding ore, exploitation is finding a way to get it out of the ground into the transformation plant and mineralogy is transforming the ore into a concentrate of said mineral.
